However, while we like Valentine’s Day activities and Easter-themed lesson plans, we LOVE St. Patrick’s Day themed lessons!

Complete with a read aloud, exploration stations, and even a STEM activity, our March bundle has everything you need to support your preschoolers’ learning needs all month long. But first, let’s look at how to bring the luck of the Irish into your classroom this month.

Therefore, providing you with a full set of learning activities that easily allow you to tie all your lessons together with the monthly theme.
Themed Preschool Exploration Stations: St. Patrick’s Day
While you may have used Exploration Stations before, here is a quick overview of how ours are created and how to implement them in your classroom.
Exploration Stations are built to allow students time to develop independent learning skills. explore the activities. Your students do this by managing themselves and their work as they complete each activity and checking their progress using the shared workboard and personal checklist.
To support students in this process, all of the materials are color-coded for each station. In addition, each station has visual icons that match the instruction cards and workboard.
In order to provide students with several different types of learning, we have provided you with 9 different Exploration stations. Here are just a few examples of the types of stations your students will participate in.
- Experiment: Dissolving Lucky Charms
- Play: Flip, Roll, and Find Lucky Charms (matching game)
- Color: Color a Pot o’ Gold by following the numbers
Our packet doesn’t just contain the ideas of Exploration Stations, but everything you need to set up these 9 themed exploration stations. All you need to do is just print and organize the materials.
- 9 printable exploration stations
- Text to read aloud to students
- Tent signs for each station
- Editable work-boards
- Editable checklists for students
- Labels
- Letter banner template
Your kids will love feeling like they are “big kids” managing their own learning through these Exploration Stations, and you will love the freedom you get to walk around and engage with students one-on-one.
St. Patrick’s Day Preschool Worksheets
While math and literacy worksheets are a quick and easy way to plan lessons, they are not always the most engaging for students. And, when students are not engaged that can lead to more work for you as the teacher.
Therefore, rather than focusing on preschool worksheets for teaching math and literacy in March, we have created some other types of engaging activities. In this combined activity pack you get access to over a dozen different learning activities that cover a variety of skills in literacy and math.
Your students will love learning about math and language while still getting to engage with the theme of St. Patrick’s Day. Moreover, you will love the additional 15 no-prep worksheets we’ve included (just in case you need something extra for additional learning).
St. Patrick’s Day Read Aloud Preschool
You can’t have a themed bundle without a read aloud! Therefore, we have included a preschool read aloud for one of our favorite March books – How to Trap a Leprechaun by Sue Fliess.
Just like all of our read alouds for preschoolers, this activity pack includes enough lessons for 3-5 days of learning. That means, depending on how your preschool schedule is set up, you have enough lessons for one or even two weeks of reading activities.
Beginning with whole class learning, students will enjoy reading this book together and responding to comprehension questions as a group. Next, students get several opportunities to revisit the book over the course of several days by engaging in various comprehension activities.
Finally, students get an opportunity to demonstrate their learning verbally using retelling puppets. This is also a fun way to engage students’ creativity.
In addition, we have provided a fun craftivity. This craftivity is an excellent way to give students a tangible thing to take home and use to share their learning at home.
March Preschool Activities – STEM
Rounding out this March bundle of preschool activities is a STEM activity. While you may think, “STEM? For preschoolers?!” this type of activity is perfect for Prek!
Our signature STEM activities for preschoolers are designed around problems or situations related to themes students can relate to. While these themes sometimes lean more towards the imagination than the real world, the problem-solving skills students use are applicable in lots of different real-world situations.
In our March Preschool STEM, students work to find a solution to help Leprechaun escape with his gold. They are presented with the problem: Leprechaun is about to get caught! He needs to cross the river but doesn’t have anything to carry his gold coins.
After they know the problem, students are given a task to help solve the problem: build a boat that can hold as many coins as possible without sinking.
Armed with the problem and task, students work through the engineering process to find a solution. This type of STEM activity is engaging for PreK students because it provides them not only opportunities for critical thinking but is also hands-on.
Spring Activities for Preschool Kids
Whether you choose to use every St. Patrick’s Day activity in the bundle or pick and choose what fits your classroom best, your students will love getting to explore St. Patrick’s Day as part of their daily learning.
In addition, there are several other fun themes that can be used for learning in March. Below are a few fun activities that you can add to this March Bundle or use later in the year.
