Mindfulness and Positivity
More and more these days people young and old are practicing mindfulness techniques. Mindfulness is calmly acknowledging our thoughts and feelings without judgment and accepting them without being overwhelmed by them.
One of the easiest ways for children to practice mindfulness is through positive self-affirmations.
What are Mindful Affirmations?
Mindful Affirmations are positive words or phrases that we repeat out loud, or in the mind. Thinking or expressing mindful affirmations teaches children how to manage stress in a healthy way- allowing them to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. We have designed a collection of Mindful Affirmation Activities that are easily implemented at home or in the classroom. We have everything you need to implement mindfulness in the classroom here.
How will your students benefit from Affirmations?
An affirmation is an anchor that you can come back to when you are stressed, down, or distracted. Affirmations can bring you back to the present moment. Affirmations help to change negative thought patterns into positive ones. We believe children need exposure to a variety of ways to use positive affirmations.
Mindful Affirmations can be used at any time throughout the day. Implement an activity when one or more students need a break or at times where an affirmation could help to redirect the student(s).
We allow children to complete a Mindful Affirmation Activity as needed by having a variety of activities on-hand and ready to use at a moment’s notice.
A place where affirmation activities
The way you organize and manage your mindful affirmation activities is up to you. You can offer activity supplies to children only when needed, or provide an area in your classroom or home for children to visit when they are in need of an affirmation activity.
